Higher National Certificate, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
2 year duration
A Higher National Certificate (HNC) in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is a good next step on from an apprenticeship. It offers additional vocational training that is highly valued by employers. You may decide to study for an HNC once you have finished your apprenticeship. Alternatively, you will have the option to start an HNC during your training at
Oxfordshire Advanced Skills.
(HND and Degree)
After completing your Advanced Apprenticeship you can progress to a Higher Apprenticeship.
The Higher Apprenticeship involves studying for a Level 4-7 engineering qualification such as a Foundation Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) or Degree, while improving skills through vital on the job training.
EngTech professional registration
On completion of your Advanced Apprenticeship at OAS, you will be able to apply for Engineering Technician registration (EngTech) status through one of the engineering institutions, such as the Institution of Mechanical Engineers or the Institution of Engineering & Technology. EngTech is a professional title that matches UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC). Having the EngTech title after your name is an official recognition of expertise that will enhance your career prospects and earning potential in engineering.
