OAS announces new partnership with Embracing Future Potential to increase our Equality Diversity & Inclusion impact
We’re proud to announce our latest Equality Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) partnership with Embracing Future Potential, a new user-centric organisation that aims to increase access to employment and development opportunities for those sectors of the workforce who are not currently fully supported by traditional employment channels.
Created by a team of experienced professionals and young graduates who understand the difficulties of hiring and getting hired in today’s economy, Embracing Future Potential is fixing the first step towards businesses and employees reaching their full potential. The organisation was established in response to the effects of the first COVID-19 lockdown on employment opportunities and provides a platform that links inclusive employers with candidates, including prospective apprentices. With a focus on providing free support to the end user throughout their career journey, Embracing Future Potential has been impressed with OAS’s commitment to increasing inclusivity and is keen to provide assistance to help us to achieve our goals.
By providing access to their five websites and 750 channels of information, advice, and guidance, the partnership will help OAS to support young people from all backgrounds into an engineering career through an inclusive approach to careers and training. Their team of employment experts will showcase career opportunities at OAS’s employer partners through a Careers Network platform to help us to reach a broader and more diverse spectrum of candidates. The organisation will also support us in developing content and resources as part of OAS’s school outreach programme, which aims to encourage inclusive and hands-on engagement with STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths). As a Disability Confident champion, Embracing Future Potential will also help OAS to shape our Inclusive Workplace initiative, providing support and sharing best practice to help us to complete an internal assessment of access and provision whilst also assisting us to make the most of our status as a Disability Confident employer.
ED&I Partner to OAS, James Jackson, said: “Partnering with Embracing Future Potential is great for OAS and will see us access a unique channel of support focused on the individual seeking employment. Set up to help address the impacts of COVID-19 on young talent employment opportunities, working with Embracing Future Potential will support OAS in our attempts to offer equal opportunities to harder-to-reach, lesser represented groups.”
Calvin Bowers, Diverse Talent Manager at Embracing Future Potential, said: “We are delighted to welcome OAS into our network and support them on their journey to reach more diverse candidates interested in forging a future career within engineering. At Embracing Future Potential, we aim to provide access to employment, work-based learning and support for young people. We are proud to have the opportunity to partner with OAS and help showcase the brilliant work they are doing to champion high-quality apprenticeships within the STEM sector.
With the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic being felt across the UK, we must act now to ensure the range of skills in our workforce are not wasted. Both Embracing Future Potential and OAS are keen to make sure that everyone has equal access to opportunities, and help them reach their future potential.”
