OAS opens its doors to our 2019/20 apprentices

Oxfordshire Advanced Skills is delighted to announce that our brand-new state of the art training centre is open and our first cohort of students have started their new apprenticeship.

With more than 70 students enrolled for our first year, partnering with more than 20 local businesses it was a fantastic moment to see the vision of UKAEA and MTC Apprenticeships come to life as we begin our journey to train the next generation of advanced engineers, helping to fuel local companies with fully trained, business ready talented young people with a passion for engineering.

The training centre, which took just under a year to construct and houses some of the UK’s most advanced equipment and machinery will ensure our apprentices will not only secure the engineering fundamentals they need to succeed in their future careers but also begin to experience how the future of engineering will be shaped by the advancements in technology.

On opening the Training Centre, Emma Johnstone, Operations Manager at OAS said, “the project has been a long time in the planning and a major undertaking in terms of both programme design and construction as we have run a dual strategy focused on ensuring that both the facilities and the training we provide our apprentices are absolute best in class. To see the doors of the training centre open and the apprentices begin their learning was an incredibly proud day for everyone involved.”
